Brad started his sand sculpting company, ‘Sandpile Creations’, in 2009. He has been sculpting sand professionally for over thirty years. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Brad was raised in several areas of the United States, thus preparing him for the nomadic life style of professional sand sculpture.
After high school Brad entered the work force in construction where he earned money to move to California. Upon his arrival in The Golden State in 1985, Brad soon found his way to the beaches. His first ever sculpture was a foot print, but within a few years he was adept at carving amongst other things, a full human figure.
Brad got involved in sand sculpture through sand sculpting competitions at the beach. After winning numerous contests, it was inevitable that he would become an integral part of early professional sand sculpture in the USA. After several years of work experience, Brad along with his two partners formed Sandscapes in 1992.
Even though Brad is busy full time creating professional sand sculpture at fairs, festivals and shopping centres he hasn’t forgotten his beginnings at the beach. For many years along with his partners he competed at the World Sand Sculpting Championship at Harrison Hot Springs in British Columbia, Canada. Brad was a part each time Sandscapes has won its 10 world team titles. Most recently his sculpture ‘Headache’ brought him’ Winner of the 24th Annual American Sandsculpting Championship Festival’ held in Ft. Myers, Florida in 2010.
Brad has visited SandWorld several times over the past few years, his past works including ‘Pirates’ and ‘Labours of Hercules’, this year he has carved Rudyard Kipling’s, ‘The Jungle Book’.
